Leadership Academy
"The Leadership Academy is without a doubt one of the most important things to have happened to me. I learned that a leader isn’t necessarily someone who has a special power but rather someone who finds power within themselves and the talents they already possess. It showed me that being a leader is about being confident in myself and my abilities and harnessing those qualities to inspire others. The Academy has taught me self-confidence, a trait that I know will empower me and carry me to success in all my endeavors in life."

Overview
The Mount Mercy Leadership Academy has achieved an impressive level of prestige based on its rigorous curriculum. Students from local 8th-grade middle schools compete for acceptance into the academy based on the recommendation of their middle school principal. Once accepted, students participate in experiential learning and service opportunities that will enable them to realize the many gifts that they have been given and understand their role in using these gifts to make the world a better place.
A Five-Year Academy
Recently, Mount Mercy expanded the Leadership Academy from an 8th-grade program to a five-year academy to complement the four other existing “Academies within the Academy.” Students who participate in the Leadership Academy complete service work, both in and out of school, incorportating the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy.
